The first problem I am lost fixing. Midway through the install, a plain
request pops up with the red symbol of "Access is Denied" and the install in

hours as I've left it there overnight to ensure this is indeed a hang
(P4-3.0ghz/1GB ram system, so it's no slouch). I had to End Process on
regsvr32, which allows the reverse to ... the command shell, it also hangs with regsvr32 at 99%, so there is
obviously an issue with qasf.dll.
I have since obtained "windowsmedia9-kb839203-enu.exe" update which has
replaced the qasf.dll file with a newer version, ...

Connection....however since installing SP2 I have been getting a dial up box
appear intermittently when I log on and whilst being online. I do not have a
phone connected to it. I have checked with NTL the Service provider and they

With plain vanilla XP installed, no problems whatsover, I can select either
card in the BIOS as the primary and the system boots up into XP without any
trouble and I can "arrange" my monitors as I want.
After installing SP2 I can no longer use both monitors.
If I set the AGP as the primary the boot sequence starts and as soon as the
PCI monitor cuts it, there's a brief flash of BSOD and the system reboots.
If I set the PCI as the primary the boot sequence completes and windows XP
is running but only on the monitor attached to the PCI card. Device Manager
shows an exclamation mark against the AGP card.

First place to look is the Event Viewer and look for errors, also look

I have XP set to use the "classic" log on screen. When I am done with my
PC I log off. This leaves it displaying the log on screen where you
enter user name and password and press OK. Twice now since installing
SP2 I have come home to find the text fields disabled so that I cannot
enter text into them to log on. My only option is to restart the

I had tried looking and posting even in the EIDOS forum but no one pointed
to the right thread or answer--but you! I read through everything and one
trick caught my eye I had not tried yet. I loaded my only previous saved
game that does not freeze right off the bat on me and THEN hit Esc again
and loaded most current Quick Save and guess what? I haven't had a freeze
yet! I still use the Quick Save and write Regular Saves too but I am
deleting the previous Quick Save so that I don't overwrite any.
I was almost ready to start using someone else's saved game. Thank you.

I have an AMD 64 system recently upgraded to SP2. I am getting a DEP error
when trying to access my secondary hard drive. It doesn't seem to make sense
